Helping ‘Systems’ Operate at Full Potential
Sandy works with a variety of “systems” – groups, corporate & non-profit teams and business & personal partnerships – to help them leverage their potential and become more cohesive and successful.
What Approach is used in Team Coaching?
Sandy uses the Organization & Relationship Systems (ORSC) coaching model – a leading edge model which supports teams to resolve conflict, pro-actively navigate change and create inspired vision.
ORSC is based on Relationship Systems Intelligence (RSI) which is beyond Emotional Intelligence (relationship with oneself) and Social Intelligence (relationship with others). With RSI the coaching focus shifts to the needs of the 3rd entity known as the “relationship”. The model draws on such fields as Emotional Intelligence, Conflict Resolution, Co-Active Coaching, Process Work and Quantum Physics.
What Types of Teams & Groups Benefit from Coaching?
Those who are:
- In distress or pain and require deeper intervention work than a ‘feel good’ team building session
- Underperforming and need to better leverage their untapped potential
- Experiencing rapid change, restructuring or specific, time-limited projects
- Newly formed and wanting to create a solid foundation for ongoing success
- Already successful and wanting to go to the next level!
- Wanting an inspired and collective shared vision for the future
- Needing greater creative alignment of their talents
- Wanting to focus their time and energy on the business instead of the conflict
- Requiring a neutral 3rd party to help facilitate solutions
Teams and Groups are complex and dynamic systems complete with creatively driven personalities so it’s no wonder they often struggle to fully tap their full potential and achieve the success they truly deserve. Team Coaching is the perfect solution!
What happens during a Team Coaching session?
Every team and session is unique and has its own dynamic element, however, you can generally expect a few key things to take place such as:
- Key conversations are brought to the surface, including the difficult ones
- Any hot spots are processed and neutralized in a safe way
- Team wisdom and strengths are brought forth and honoured
- People see their system more clearly including their individual impact
- Common ground and greater mutual understanding emerges
- A collective team action plan is established for moving forward
There is typically several months between team coaching sessions to allow for integration of new behaviours and execution of the team action plans.
Does Team Coaching include Training?
Yes, usually it does because teams are often missing key skillsets or have blindspots that would prevent them from achieving their goals. Training in communication styles, healthy assertion, constructive conflict and coaching skills is often included in team coaching sessions.
This combination of coaching and training becomes a very powerful force for transforming organizational culture. Individual coaching for each team member can also be incorporated for added impact of team coaching.
What are the Benefits and Results?
The impact that high performing, values-driven teams can have on engagement and organizational success has been well documented. Depending on a team’s unique goals and desired outcomes they may experience a number of these results:
- More effective communication and improved interpersonal dynamics
- Enhanced skills for ‘constructive’ conflict and collaboration
- Re-sparked team chemistry & alignment on vision and goals
- Greater leveraging of team strengths
- Elevated levels of personal & team consciousness
- Increased resiliency and adaptability to change
- Increased trust, morale, productivity & creativity
- Increased role clarity, higher levels of ownership shared accountability
In return, the organization benefits with:
- Less silo mentality
- An inspired team culture
- Increased product/service innovation
- Improved processes, productivity and profitability
For bands, the benefits of team coaching can reach well beyond the members’ individual fulfillment. With renewed vision and greater levels of creative collaboration there can be powerful shifts in their consciousness, songwriting and performances. This can excite and elevate their existing fans, attract new ones and ultimately lead to greater commercial success!
Relationship Coaching
Relationships are at the heart of everything we do in our lives and our organizations. When partners or business colleagues are in conflict, not only does it impact them personally, but their family or whole team can suffer. ORSC Relationship coaching focuses on what the 3rd entity known as “the relationship” needs to flourish successfully. It can help people navigate interpersonal differences or competing values and agendas so they learn to interact much more effectively and productively together.
Group Coaching for Post Workshop Skills Integration
This coaching is typically offered in the weeks immediately after a workshop by conference call so participants can convene in small groups (usually 6-8) to deepen their application of the material together.
Benefits include:
- A safe environment of confidentiality and trust
- Coaching and support for current challenges related to the workshop topic
- Sharing of lessons and wisdom among the peer group
- Elimination of isolation and insular thinking
- Celebration of successes achieved since the workshop
- Accountability for maximizing personal outcomes
- A deepening of community among peers long after the workshop has ended
